A Joint Statement from the Hillingdon Interfaith Community:Regarding protest and attacks against hotels hosting Refugees and Asylum Seekers As faith leaders representing the rich diversity of Hillingdon, we are united by a common call to practice hospitality, compassion, and mercy—especially towards the stranger, the foreigner, and the vulnerable.

It is from this sacred duty that we view with profound concern the recent protests and attacks targeting hotels housing refugees and asylum seekers. We unequivocally reject the demonisation of those seeking safety. To target these individuals with messages of hate is to compound the suffering of people who have already experienced profound trauma.

While we uphold the right to peaceful protest, it must never cross into intimidation or the victimisation of the vulnerable. We call for an end to these hostile actions. Furthermore, we pray for our political leaders to address the root causes of community tension, including economic inequality and hardship, with wisdom and courage. Only through compassion and justice can we build the secure and cohesive society we all seek.
